About the program

From CAD to a diving robot — built by your own hands.

The Mind Door AUV Training Program is a practical, project-based course in underwater robotics. Instead of theory alone, you work directly on the systems that power Hangor 1.0 and Hangor 2.0: modular mechanical frames, waterproof enclosures, thruster layouts, centralized power distribution, embedded electronics and a full ROS2 autonomy stack with AI perception and sensor-fusion navigation.

By the end of the program you will have designed, assembled, programmed and pool-tested an AUV subsystem as part of a team — and you'll understand exactly how a competition-grade underwater vehicle goes from an idea to autonomous mission execution.

Animated Course Plan

Eight modules. One diving robot.

The course follows the same workflow we use to build the Hangor fleet — mission planning, mechanical design, electronics, autonomy software and in-water validation.

Week 1

Foundations of Underwater Robotics

How AUVs work: buoyancy, hydrodynamics, 6-DOF motion, thruster configurations and an inside-out tour of Hangor 1.0 and Hangor 2.0.

Week 2

Mechanical Design & CAD

Design a modular AUV frame in CAD — from hull and ogive nose sections to payload bays, exactly like the exploded assembly of Hangor 2.0.

Week 3

Electronics & Power Systems

Build a reliability-centered electrical architecture: centralized power distribution, dedicated regulators, kill-switch safety and PCB fundamentals.

Week 4

Thrusters, Sensors & Integration

Integrate T200 thrusters, cameras, pressure sensors and a VectorNav-class IMU into a working vehicle harness.

Week 5

ROS2 Autonomy Stack

Set up the ROS2 ecosystem that drives Hangor: nodes, topics, control loops and behavior-tree mission sequencing.

AI Perception & Navigation
